Tuckpointing Masons

Position Overview

CLMC is seeking experienced tuckpointing masons for brick repair and masonry restoration projects at residential and commercial properties across Chicagoland. The work is field-based and takes place at active job sites throughout the region.

Typical Responsibilities

• Grinding and removing deteriorated mortar from brick and stone joints
• Repointing mortar joints to match the existing mortar color and profile
• Tuckpointing to restore a clean, uniform joint line
• Matching mortar mix and color to the existing wall
• Brick removal and replacement of damaged or spalled units
• Masonry restoration of chimneys, parapets, and wall sections
• Lintel or limestone repair when applicable to the project
• Scaffold and lift work for upper walls and chimneys
• Job-site protection of landscaping, walkways, and occupied areas
• Daily cleanup and safe work practices around homes and businesses

Required Experience and Skills

• Demonstrated experience tuckpointing and repointing brick
• Comfortable grinding out mortar joints with hand and power tools
• Able to match mortar color and joint profile to existing masonry
• Brick removal and replacement that blends with the surrounding wall
• Scaffold and ladder experience for chimney and upper-wall work
• Reliable transportation to job sites across Chicagoland
• Able to follow scope and direction on site
• Commitment to safety on occupied residential and commercial properties

Preferred Experience

• Lintel or limestone repair experience
• Commercial masonry restoration experience
• Chimney rebuild or crown work
• Experience with historic masonry and matching old mortar

Work Location

This is a field-based position serving active masonry and concrete projects throughout Chicagoland. Qualified applicants will be contacted directly to discuss current opportunities. The specific jobsite, reporting location, schedule, and start time will be provided before each assignment.
